I’m finally back and I hope there won’t be so many long waits anymore. So, nice to be posting again! Guess what happened on Friday, March 2nd? Well, I went to Virginia Beach and spent the night, but that’s not what I’m talking about exactly. I saw Stellar Kart, Kutless, and the Newsboys on their GO tour! Yes, it was way awesome…I even got a seat in the 5th row! I haven’t written a review yet though, so I’ll save all my comments and details for that. I would like to warn you that I didn’t really get any good pictures (they were all blurry), and the videos are great to look at, but the sound quality is really bad…well, the Stellar Kart videos sound okay, but by the time the Newsboys came on, the speakers were turned up extra loud…but anyway, I’ll still post them. Oh, I didn’t get any videos of Kutless, so I’m sorry to any Kutless fans that might be here! So, anyway…you’ll have to wait to hear the rest when I have the review :-) But for those of you who want a little something while waiting, I’ll let you hear a low-quality recording of the Newsboys’ Jeff Frankenstein and Peter Furler singing a small collection of old-school Newsboys songs! But just incase you get confused, Jeff is singing through a microphone with special effects, so that’s the explanation for the robotic voice. Enjoy!
Anyway…for now, I’ll start all the way from the beginning and talk about what happened outside the concert.
Well, we left at about 8:00 in the morning, and listened to the Newsboys’ album Go about twice in the car to prepare us for the concert :-) After a couple hours, we stopped in Williamsburg to get some stuff at an awesome Starbucks. We got back on the road, and finally, after what felt like a long day, we got to Virginia Beach. The drive was long, but very worth it! It was so nice to be there again. That place is kind of like a second home to me, ’cause I’ve been going there pretty much all my life. Anyway…I enjoyed the hotel room a lot. It wasn’t all that different from anything else you’d find, but I liked it! It’s been a while since I spent the night in VA Beach…actually, the last time I did that was early in 2004, when I saw the Newsboys for the first time ;-) I was actually sick when that happened, so unfortunately, I missed all the good beach stuff. But thankfully I was NOT sick this time, so I got to take in the beach as much as I wanted. After chilling in the hotel room for a bit, watching the waves roll through the ocean, we went to spend some time in Norfolk before the concert started. We hung around at Waterside Festival Marketplace (it’s a cool place on the waterfront that’s like a little mall) where we enjoyed an awesome lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack…I love going to that location of JCS because you get an amazing view of the water the entire time…you can see boats going across and everything. If you by chance ever end up around Norfolk for some reason or another, take some time to hang around, and of course, do get something at Joe’s Crab Shack :-)
….then we went to the concert….
…and then we left ;-) After an awesome, amazing concert, we made our way back to the hotel for one of the most peaceful sleeps I’ve ever had!
That morning, we had breakfast at one of my top favorite restaurants, Pocahontas Pancakes, where I had my usual Pecan-Topped Waffle. By the time I’d eaten half of it, it looked sort of the NBC logo. I know, I’m so dumb! ;-D So anyway…afterwards, we went down on the beach and chilled out a bit. I wrote the word “GO” in the sand in honor of the concert (because it was apart of the GO tour)…it made perfect sense to me, but I’m afraid it might have confused other people visiting the beach ;-) So anyway…we went to pick up a couple shakes from Häagen-Dazs (my favorite ice cream shop), and then enjoyed them while sitting on the boardwalk, watching the waves. After a little while, we finally decided to head home. This was an extremely wonderful time, and I’m so glad I got to go!
So, there’s the bit of time that happened at the beach. I promise that I’ll post a review of the concert and everything soon!

Last night, I actually got to go to another concert! This one was fairly small, it was at my church, and the artists that played aren’t very well-known, but anyway…they were the John Reilly Band, Voice, and West Coast Revival. They were all awesome, but my personal favorite was Voice, an extremely gifted rapper. The last time (uh…only time, actually) I went to a rap concert was in October of 2005, when I saw TobyMac, and I think this one may have been just as good! Not only was the music extremely catchy but the lyrics were also very, very good. One really cool part of the concert was when Voice and his DJs played a remix of “This Is Your Life” by Switchfoot, and made all of us sing it! It was a really awesome show full of worship, fun, and of course, dancing. Check out Voice’s website, www.ihearvoice.com. I’d like to suggest that you go to the media section and watch the Rap Etiquette video…you’ll be in for a good laugh (and will have learned a bit)!
I got to spend the weekend with my nieces…it was tiring, but there were some fun moments! One very funny thing that happened was Niece1 asked me to draw three of the Newsboys (Peter Furler, Phil Joel, and I think Paul Colman). Of course, I did a terrible job, and what I drew looked nothing like the real people. But anyway…Niece1 first asked me to draw Peter, and since he’s the only Newsboy she knows by name, she then asked me to draw (quote) “his friend with crazy long hair”, and of course, we all know that’s Phil. After my lame attempt to draw Phil, “Now draw the one with black hair that goes like this”, she said while making a triangular shape with her hands…I had some trouble figuring that one out, but my best guess that she was talking about Paul, so then, of course, I did a bad job on him too. By the time I was done, she said, “you made them all look like ladies!”…see, I’m a terrible drawer! ;-)
I know this is completely random, but I just feel like mentioning it for some reason. Yesterday, I put my Sanctus Real CD (Fight The Tide) on Spence’s iPod, and she hasn’t stopped listening to “Everything About You”! She’s probably played it like 40 times by now ;-P Well, I can’t blame her, it’s a great song. Sorry, Spence, you just make me laugh sometimes ;-)
I had a lot of fun at our church’s concert with you!
Oh yeah, and I love that song so much. Listening to it right now, in fact. As I’m sure you can hear ;)
That’s awesome how you got to go to that concert! The GO tour came here to PA, but I wasn’t able to go. Good thing you had fun though.
It’s also funny for me to hear when people get seats at a concert, because most of the concerts I go to don’t have chairs. It’s just a big mosh space. hehe.
